The Adelaide Crows have announced that they will delist Harry Schoenberg and Chris Burgess, with a firm commitment to reselect both players in the upcoming Rookie Draft on November 22.

This move allows the Crows to free up senior list spots while retaining both players on rookie contracts.

Schoenberg, a promising midfielder from Marrabel, South Australia, has been with the Crows since being drafted with pick No. 24 in 2019.

Although limited to just four games this season, the 23-year-old has previously shown his potential, having played 57 games since his 2020 debut.

Schoenberg's skills were on full display in 2019 when he represented South Australia in the Under-18 Championships, earning All-Australian honours and the state's MVP award.

Chris Burgess, meanwhile, joined the Crows from Gold Coast after the 2023 season, adding versatility as a forward-ruck option.

The 28-year-old previously led the VFL as the top goal scorer, winning the Jim 'Frosty' Miller Medal in both 2022 and 2023. Burgess played seven games this year, his first with Adelaide, and has demonstrated value as a swingman capable of impacting both ends of the field.

Adelaide's decision follows a league-wide trend where several clubs, facing roster limitations, are re-listing contracted players as rookies. Collingwood, Sydney, Fremantle, Brisbane, and North Melbourne are among the other clubs making similar roster adjustments this year.

The Crows' move allows them flexibility as they head into the AFL Draft, where they hold the valuable No. 4 pick.

With a focus on adding midfield firepower, ruck depth, and outside run, Adelaide is strategically positioned to bolster its list with high-end draft talent in 2024.
