Recently departed Adelaide defender Patrick Parnell will remain in South Australia for 2025, with the youngster signing with SANFL club Glenelg following his Crows exit.

Parnell joins the reigning SANFL premiers alongside retired Brisbane midfielder Jarryd Lyons, whose return to the club was confirmed last week.

The Tigers have added Parnell to a promising off-season intake to date, with the 22-year-old landing at The Bay after three-and-a-half years with Adelaide.

Parnell was drafted to the Crows out of Albury as the fourth overall pick in the 2021 Mid-Season Draft and would make his AFL debut the following year against West Coast.

The medium-sized defender played 11 games that year and a further five in 2023, including a 25-disposal outing in a win against St Kilda in Round 9. Parnell would feature in just one game this year, with a shoulder injury ending his campaign in April.

He would manage a sole SANFL appearance for the Crows in 2024, recording 20 disposals, nine marks and three rebound 50s against South Adelaide in the club's season opener.

"It's exciting to join a club like Glenelg. I'm excited to meet with all my new teammates and get after winning the club's third premiership," Parnell said of joining Glenelg.

The addition of Parnell and Lyons will greatly strengthen the Tigers' hopes of a third straight SANFL premiership in 2025, with the club having bid farewell to flag stalwart Matt Snook to retirement already this off-season.

"We're absolutely thrilled to have Patrick join our club," Tigers coach Darren Reeves said.

"He's an outstanding young man that will fit in perfectly into our group. We feel like his leg speed and ball use will add greatly to our 2025 campaign, and we can't wait to get to work with him."

Glenelg finished the home and away season in fourth before defeating Woodville-West Torrens, Sturt, Central District and Norwood on their way to a second successive SANFL premiership.
