Former Carlton midfield-forward David Cuningham has landed at Footscray for the coming VFL season following his Blues departure.
Carlton delisted Cuningham at the cessation of the 2024 season after his nine seasons at Princes Park, with the 27-year-old playing 58 career games in the navy blue.
He would endure a luckless run of injuries during his time in the top flight, with knee, hip and calf issues limiting him to no more than 12 games in a single season.
Cuningham played five games for the Blues last year in another significantly hampered campaign, managing an equal amount of appearances in the VFL in 2024 also.
He has since switched to the Kennel and linked up with the Western Bulldogs' VFL affiliate Footscray for this year, bringing AFL experience to a side that will rely on senior-listed talent and local-tied footballers.
Cuningham joins a list that featured ex-AFL names Phoenix Spicer, Cameron Owen, Trent Bianco and Rhett Montgomerie last year, however the latter duo have since departed in favour of moves to Box Hill and Central Districts respectively.
Footscray finished second on the VFL ladder in 2024 after recording 14 wines, three losses and a draw during the regular season. The club's campaign ended with a preliminary final defeat to Southport.
Fixtures for the 2025 VFL season are yet to be confirmed.
