Recently delisted Richmond forward Noah Cumberland has been unveiled as the latest signing for Victorian local club South Morang for the coming Northern Football Netball League season.

Cumberland has linked up with the Lions after initially returning to his old QAFL club Maroochydore in the wake of his Punt Road exit, with the 23-year-old instead deciding to remain in Victoria for the coming year.

The U-turn has seen South Morang land Cumberland straight out of the AFL in what is a major coup for the newly-promoted Division 1 club.

"We are extremely excited to announce the signing of former Richmond forward Noah Cumberland for season 2025," a club post read.

"Noah is obviously a huge addition for our club bringing his AFL level experience and talent to our group. A dangerous forward, Noah kicked 33 goals from his 25 AFL games. He has pace to burn and possesses an elite shoe which will make him an absolute headache for opposition defenders.

"At just 23 years old [Cumberland] will fit seamlessly into our young group. We are very excited to see Noah running out in South Morang colours in 2025.

"We welcome Noah, his partner Nat and the Cumberland family to Lion family."

Cumberland spent five years on Richmond's list for a total of 25 games at AFL level, booting 33 goals in the yellow and black - including a five-goal outing against Brisbane in just his fifth appearance.

That haul came in the middle of a bright start to Cumberland's career, with the youngster recording 19 goals in eight matches to end a positive debut season.

Opportunities in the senior side were harder to come by in the subsequent seasons, with the Tigers deciding last year not to offer Cumberland a new contract for 2025.

His move to South Morang sees him join the NFNL club fresh off their Division 2 premiership, with the Lions taking out the title after a grand final victory over Diamond Creek in September.

The club's upcoming campaign is scheduled to get underway with a home game against West Preston-Lakeside on Saturday, April 5.
