Three-time All-Australian Nick Dal Santo believes it'll be Brisbane Lions midfielder Lachie Neale who will be the recruit to set the competition alight at their new club next season.
The 25-year-old joined the Lions on deadline day during the trade period, making the switch across from the Fremantle Dockers.
Dal Santo spoke on SEN Afternoons stating Neale will help the Lions become a team to be feared.
“I’m going to go with someone that is already a really good player, but I think we’ll start to appreciate more because I think this team will significantly improve their output this year – and it’s Lachie Neale,” Dal Santo said.
“There will be a lot of people who will say three years ago he had the most disposals in the competition, I completely agree.
“He also played in the shadow of Nat Fyfe at Freo and as a teammate they love Nat Fyfe, but I reckon they would have (also) loved Lachie Neale, he’s just one of those players who you know what you’re going to get.
“It may not be the prettiest 35 disposals, but he’s a little bull-terrier, he'll give you whatever he’s got.
“I think Lachie Neale can have the most impact for a free agent/recruit this year.”
Neale made his AFL debut for the Dockers in 2012 where he managed 135 games and kicking 67 goals.
The midfielder quickly became a ball magnet, as in 2018, he averaged over 30 disposals per game which ultimately led to him winning the clubs Best and Fairest award.
The Lions will be hoping Neale can continue on with those stellar form in 2019 and help the club start climbing up the ladder.
