Former North Melbourne great David King has revealed the three players he believes have taken their games to another level.
Speaking on SEN’s Whateley, King was encouraged by what he saw from the trio on the weekend.
“We had a few (players) announce themselves and say, ‘I’m going to make some waves here’,” he said.
Harry Perryman (GWS)
The emerging Giant stepped up in Saturday night's win over Geelong, racking up 20 disposals and booting a career-high four goals.
“Harry Perryman … I didn’t think he could do that, particularly forward of centre in front of goal. That was fantastic."
Isaac Heeney (Sydney)
The young gun was brilliant in his side's narrow win over Adelaide on Saturday afternoon, tallying 16 disposals and booting four goals.
“I saw Isaac Heeney say, ‘I’m still tracking towards the pointy end of the competition and the absolute elite’.
Jy Simpkin (North Melbourne)
The 22-year old had a breakout performance in Sunday's comeback win over St Kilda, accumulating 23 disposals and booting a goal as a full time midfielder.
“We’re in a hurry to see young players take a game by the throat and I thought Jy Simpkin in that second half yesterday was critical because he’s a difference maker.
“He was enormous in that second half and Ben Cunnington led the charge, but sometimes you need a couple of kids who do different things to come with you.
“So there are some kids that have really excited and I think that is a real positive for our game.”
