The Western Bulldogs' injury crisis could open the door for another debutant on Friday when the Dogs host Collingwood at the MCG.
The Dogs have several senior players sidelined through injury and saw their casualty ward grow after their season-opening win over North Melbourne, with Luke Cleary (concussion) and James O'Donnell (jaw) sidelined for this week's affair.
Cleary is "up and about" and "in good spirits" after his nasty collision with Kangaroos defender Jackson Archer, while O'Donnell has been ruled out after his high knock against North Melbourne.
"He won't play," coach Luke Beveridge said of O'Donnell.
"He trained yesterday and he trained fully, but it's pretty traumatic getting your jaw broken, having a plate put in and losing a wisdom tooth.
"He was still a bit swollen yesterday, so it was probably not right that he plays. Hopefully he's a candidate for the following week."
The pair of defensive outs has opened the door for former first-round pick Jedd Busslinger to potentially come into Beveridge's side as a key defensive reinforcement.
The Western Australian is "under consideration" for a spot in Beveridge's rearguard, with teammate Buku Khamis the other name the Dogs' selection committee is weighing up.
"Jedd is under consideration," Beveridge added.
"His form has been pretty good. We'll make a call between him and Buku to play that key spot.
"One of those lads will be in the selected lineup."
The Dogs remain at least another week without key defender Liam Jones, who is a "slim chance" to play in Round 3 against Carlton, with a following match against Fremantle more likely for the hamstrung defender.
Beveridge and his men will host the Magpies at the MCG on Friday night under the Footscray name, celebrating 100 years since the club's first VFL game.
