Recently delisted Geelong forward Zane Williams has returned to his former club Woodville-West Torrens.

Williams was recruited to Kardinia Park with Pick 12 of this year's Mid-Season Draft, signing a six-month contract with the Cats after impressing in the SANFL.

The 21-year-old failed to feature at AFL level, however did play in nine games in the VFL for Geelong.

Williams was among five delistings the Cats announced just days after their premiership win, with Williams joined by Quinton Narkle, Francis Evans, Nick Stevens and Paul Tsapatolis.

The small-forward has now looked to return to South Australia, re-signing with the Eagles after his short stint at AFL level.

"Obviously we were disappointed for Zane that things haven't worked out for him the way he would have liked at Geelong but we welcome him back with open arms," Woodville-West Torrens coach Jade Sheedy said in a club statement.

โ€œZane showed us in the first half of 2022 what he is capable of at SANFL level where he played State football before being taken in the mid-season draft and we have no doubt this is just the start for Zane and his football journey."

Williams reunites with a host of ex-AFL talent at the Eagles, including Dylan Clarke, Riley Knight, Troy Menzel, Daniel Menzel, Kobe Mutch and Connor Ballenden.

Woodville-West Torrens finished the 2022 season in seventh with a record of nine wins and nine losses.
