Delisted Adelaide defender Patrick Parnell isn't ready to relinquish his AFL dream.

The Crows let go of Parnell after 17 senior games following his selection in the 2021 Mid-Season Draft as the club looks to improve its list, welcoming GWS duo Isaac Cumming and James Peatling alongside Melbourne's Alex Neal-Bullen.

The 22-year-old has signed with SANFL premiers Glenelg alongside recently retired Brisbane midfielder Jarryd Lyons.

Parnell, who admitted he "saw the writing on the wall, " started to put feelers out at the state league level and will remain in South Australia in 2025, hoping to recreate his initial drafting through the mid-season period.

"It was disappointing to be let go at the end of this year, but in saying that, I loved my few years at the Crows, and I wouldn't have it any other way," Parnell said on SEN SA's The Run Home.

"I got on the front foot a few weeks before I was delisted.

"My management reached out to a few state league clubs to get the ball rolling, but there wasn't a lot of interest AFL-wise.

"I learnt plenty playing down back with Brodie Smith, Wayne Milera, Luke Brown, and those sorts of guys. I feel like my footy has come a long way, and I still feel like I can improve.

"Whether or not I get an opportunity to play AFL footy, I'm not sure."

Parnell fielded many interested clubs in the South Australian state league, but after considering where he'd like to play, the decision to choose Glenelg was "relatively easy".

"In the end, it was a pretty easy decision to stay in Adelaide," Parnell said.

"I had a chat with a few (SANFL clubs), but in the end, I think it was a relatively easy decision to pick Glenelg. They're a pretty impressive club and have got a pretty good footy program.

"I've still got AFL aspirations, whether that happens or not, I'm not sure.

"But I'm very excited by the next few years at Glenelg and very excited by what the club could potentially achieve."

Tigers coach Darren Reeves was ecstatic to lure the talented youngster to the club.

"We're absolutely thrilled to have Patrick join our club," Reeves said.

"He's an outstanding young man that will fit in perfectly into our group. We feel like his leg speed and ball use will add greatly to our 2025 campaign, and we can't wait to get to work with him."
