Collingwood's VFL side has picked up 20-year-old Ned Long, a big-bodied midfielder delisted by Hawthorn in October.
Taken early in the 2022 rookie draft, Long managed four AFL appearances in two seasons with the Hawks for a career average of nine disposals and 3.4 tackles.
At 192cm and 90kgs, he's a player who drew pre-draft comparisons to Josh Dunkley with his physical ability when tackling and using his body around stoppages.
Injury has plagued much of his career so far and with the rise of fellow sizeable mids like Jai Newcombe and Will Day, he has struggled to find a firm spot in the Hawks midfield mix.
At Collingwood, he'll look to work his way into a locked spot in the reserves midfield before potentially challenging for a senior opportunity down the line.
Following the departure of veteran midfielder Taylor Adams, Collingwood may be the destination suited for Long to once again break into the AFL fold.
