Former Collingwood midfielder Jay Rantall has signed with SANFL club Norwood for the 2022 season.

Rantall was not offered a new deal by the Magpies for next season after just five games in two seasons at the Holden Centre, with all five senior appearances coming in 2021.

The 20-year-old will now set his sights on next year, linking up with the Redlegs after their third-place finish this season.

“I’m super excited to be joining Norwood in 2022,” Rantall told the club website.

“Rob Harding, Twig (Jade Rawlings) and everyone at the club have been fantastic to deal with and really welcoming since arriving in Adelaide.

“It’s been a privilege to be on Collingwood’s list for the past two seasons which has really helped me grow as a footballer.

“It’s just exciting to be able to play some consistent football next season and show the fans what I have learnt over the past two seasons.”

An elite aerobic ability and strong footy smarts saw Rantall highly rated ahead of the 2019 National Draft, with the Magpies swooping on the Greater Western Victoria prospect with Pick 40.

Speaking on his club's newest signing, Norwood football boss Rob Harding expressed his delight to have landed Rantall's services.

“We’re really excited to have Jay join Norwood ahead of the 2022 Season,” Harding said.

“He came highly recommended from the Collingwood Football Club; he is a fantastic runner and elite athlete.

“He is going to be able to play midfield and play his footy on a wing which will no doubt excite our supporters.

“We’re delighted to bring in a great character like Jay into our football club as well as a really strong player.”

Rantall's move to The Parade follows former Geelong duo Cameron Taheny and Ben Jarvis in also signing with the SANFL side for 2022.
