Recently delisted St Kilda defender Riley Bonner and Melbourne tall Adam Tomlinson are open to continuing their childhood dreams at a third AFL club if the opportunity arises.
Neither the Saints nor Demons offered contracts for 2025 to Bonner and Tomlinson, with the pair falling into the delisted free agency space ahead of its window running between November 1st and the 8th.
Tomlinson initially began his career as an inaugural Giant, playing 140 games before successfully requesting a trade to Melbourne ahead of the 2020 season.
The 31-year-old only added 45 games as he was unable to pass the likes of Jake Lever, Steven May, Tom McDonald and Harrison Petty.
And with the emergence of Blake Howes, the writing appeared to be on the wall for the former Giant.
However, Tomlinson insisted that a third AFL club could be on the agenda, with Collingwood and Gold Coast flagging interest.
"There are some possible landing spots, but there's nothing concrete," Tomlinson said on SEN.
"As a 31-year-old, I'm completely confident in my body and ability, and there are some opportunities possibly.
"But I can't really sit here and say I'll definitely be playing AFL as much as I hope to.
"We've spoken to Collingwood, Gold Coast and a few others. That's what I'll be doing today and the next (few weeks.)
"To be honest, there's not as much of a rush right now. But there's not as much opportunity as people think."
As for Bonner, he started at Port Adelaide in 2016 but was delisted by the club 12 months ago.
The 27-year-old was selected by the Saints in the pre-season draft and played 19 games in 2024, but wasn't seen in the future plans.
"It's obviously a difficult pill to swallow compared to last year when I didn't play anywhere near as many games," Bonner told SEN.
"I'd say (I was) a little bit (blindsided), towards the back end of the year, I missed a week with an injury, and I came back into the team and was playing a different role.
"But I like to think, hopefully can end up somewhere else."
The duo recognised the frustrating waiting game they are forced to suffer through as clubs prioritise other areas of the field during the trade and free agency space.
However, both Tomlinson and Bonner would be seen as low-cost options and can be signed as delisted free agents early next month.
