Melbourne midfielder James Harmes has been traded to the Western Bulldogs, with the Demons securing a future draft pick in return.
Harmes, who played in the Demons' 2021 premiership, is contracted for next year and received reported interest from numerous clubs at the back end of this season.
With Harmes contracted for 2024, the Bulldogs needed to strike an agreement with Melbourne over the next week.
The 28-year-old elected the Kennel as his destination of choice this year and will head to the Bulldogs in exchange for a future third-round selection.
Trade paperwork approved.

The trading of the future selection is the third deal of this week that has seen a 2024 pick swap hands, with Fremantle acquiring Port Adelaide's first-round selection for next season while the Suns got their hands on the Dogs' opening pick.
The Bulldogs presently hold picks 5, 39, 47, 52, 68, 71, and 74 after trading for the Gold Coast Suns' No. 4 selection, which is now Pick 5 after North Melbourne landed band one draft compensation for the impending loss of free agent Ben McKay.
