Melbourne key defender Adam Tomlinson is "set to leave" the club as an unrestricted free agent this off-season, with St Kilda the best-placed destination for the wantaway Dee.
Tomlinson is eyeing opportunity elsewhere as his role falls out of favour at Melbourne. Tomlinson has strung together just 45 games in five years at Melbourne, battling long-term injuries and patches of poor form.
SEN's Sam Edmund proposed St Kilda could be Tomlinson's most viable option.
"[Tomlinson] wants more opportunity. Just wants to play. Is St Kilda the home as his third club?โ Edmund said.
With Josh Battle predicted to exit Moorabbin for brown and gold colours, an opportunity presents Tomlinson to fit into the Saints' backline. He would join All-Australian Callum Wilkie and Dougal Howard in a defence that only conceded an average of 76 points per game this season.
The 31-year-old hasn't played a full season since he joined the Demons, his latest uninterrupted season occurring in 2019 when the defender was at GWS. Tomlinson's best performance this year came in Round 11 against St Kilda, where Tomlinson recorded 25 disposals and a game-high 12 intercept possessions.
Tomlinson's expected departure adds him to a growing list of Melbourne players rumoured to find new homes.
Christian Petracca's future remains clouded after his Monday exit interview, whilst former Pick 2 Josh Schache and Kyah Farris-White were delisted on Tuesday.
