Out of contention Melbourne defender Adam Tomlinson is open to exploring his options with another club.
The 29-year-old fell down the pecking order of Melbourne's rock-solid back-six, dropping behind Steven May, Jake Lever, and Harrison Petty, despite playing the first four games this season.
It marks a difficult couple of seasons for the former GWS player who heartbreakingly missed the Demons' drought-breaking premiership in 2021, after rupturing his ACL against North Melbourne in Round 7.
Although he couldn't get opportunities at senior level, Tomlinson would feature in the Demons' VFL Premiership in which he had 19 disposals, playing a key role in defence.
Speaking on AFL Trade Radio this morning, Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb says the pair have had conversations about the versatile 194 cm player moving on.
"We do have a fair bit of depth in that area. We had a good chat with Tommo at the end of the season, he said if I get an opportunity at another club would you be open to it, ... our message to Adam was we would help facilitate that," Lamb said.
"If it doesn't work out, we would be more than happy to have him back. He is a ripper Tommo."
Lamb's comments come in the wake of reports that Tomlinson underwent a medical at the Western Bulldogs late last month.
Tomlinson made the move from GWS to Melbourne on a five-year deal at the end of 2019 after playing 140 games for the charcoal and orange.
A former first-round selection in the 2011 draft, Tomlinson has played 168 games, including 28 for the red and blue.
