Melbourne captain Max Gawn is in some doubt for this weekend's clash with West Coast following a knee injury sustained in Sunday's win over St Kilda.
The Demons ruckman is reportedly set for scans on his knee early this week, with Simon Goodwin now on high alert around a potential magnet reshuffle ahead of Round 9.
10 News'ย Lachy Reid has reported Gawn will undergo an assessment on his latest ailment, potentially placing the premiership skipper in doubt for his side's trip to Perth on Sunday.
The injury occurred in a ruck contest with Saints veteran Paddy Ryder, seeing the Demons move young tall Luke Jackson into midfield.
Speaking on NovaFMย on Monday, Gawn revealed that he had hindered his knee during the first-half of Sunday's clash before being able to play out the remainder of the 38-point win.

โI hurt myself in the second quarter in a rough contest with Paddy Ryder and then played out the game so itโs not that bad, I managed to play out the game,โ Gawn detailed.
โI did sit forward a lot, Luke Jackson did a lot of the run work in the second half, but I think Iโm ok.โ
Speaking after the win over St Kilda, Goodwin touched on Gawn's minor setback and subsequent forced rotation with Jackson.
โ'Gawny' was just a little bit sore, so gave the opportunity for Jacko to take up some more ruck time," Goodwin said.
Debate around ruck contests has been sparked in recent weeks after Carlton's Marc Pittonet and Collingwood's Brodie Grundy both suffered PCL injuries in contests.
The Demons are yet to confirm the full extent of Gawn's setback.
