Despite his name being raised as a potential trade piece this off-season, Melbourne has reportedly told contracted defender Adam Tomlinson that he will remain a Demon in 2024.

After tearing his ACL in Round 7 of the 2021 season - an injury that saw the stopper miss out on a premiership medallion - Tomlinson has only featured in Simon Goodwin's side on 17 occasions.

And though the former Giant remains under lock and key at Gosch's Paddock until the cessation of the 2024 season, Tomlinson's name had been raised as a potential trade piece that would see wantaway Crow Shane McAdam join Melbourne.

However, as first reported by Cal Twomey of AFL Media, Tomlinson won't be making any move across the border, or elsewhere, with the Redlegs opting to hold onto the back-up defender.

With McAdam nominating Melbourne as his club of choice for next season, knocking back a multi-year deal to stay on at West Lakes in the process, the Demons have since been put through their paces to stump up a package.

Late last week, Harrison Petty's name was floated as being in the Crows' crosshairs, with journalist Jay Clark reporting that Adelaide was keen to bring the South Australian home.

Though Melbourne is yet to shoot down these claims, Petty is said to be a player of interest ahead of the trade period, all despite the utility remaining contracted until the end of 2025.

At present, the Demons are currently armed with picks 5, 15, 24, 34, and 89 at the 2023 AFL Draft in an effort to broker a deal.
