Delisted by the GWS Giants at the end of the 2024 AFL season, midfielder Cooper Hamilton has agreed to sign with a Victorian team for next season.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Giants via the 2021 Rookie Draft, tallied eightย AFLย games in his three seasons with the club, which was heavily impacted by injury.

Hamilton, who also played 21 VFL games for GWS, has been confirmed as the latest signing for the Carlton Blues VFL side and will join Ethan Phillips, Francis Evans and Cooper Vickery as the team's new arrivals.

His signing also comes after he agreed to play with Victorian local club Rochester, meaning he will balance his time between the two teams in 2025.

โ€œHaving been on an AFL list, Cooper brings with him great knowledge of not only high performance and training standards, but also the VFL competition,โ€ VFL Senior Coach Luke Power said.ย

โ€œCooper has gone to work incredibly hard to get his body right leading into 2025, and we're really excited about what he can do for us. We know how crucial tackle pressure and contest are for us as a team, and that's what he's all about.ย

โ€œHis ability to cover the ground will add to our offensive and defensive game: he's fit in seamlessly so far with our team and we can't wait to see him in action with our players on the field.ย

โ€œCooper isn't an unfamiliar face at IKON Park: he has an existing family connection to Carlton with his brother Hugh, a much-loved player of our VFL team, that's been a constant face around the Club.ย

โ€œDespite his injuries, Cooper's growth as a young talent across the past few seasons has been impressive, and we're looking forward to seeing how he'll contribute to the team in the upcoming season."ย
