Melbourne star Christian Petracca has reportedly continued his push to depart the Demons this year.
Speculation has continued to circle the 2021 Norm Smith Medal winner in recent weeks, with Petracca said to be left disgruntled with the club since seeing his 2024 end early due to a spleen injury while the Demons wrapped up their campaign in 14th.
Petracca is contracted until the end of 2029 but is said to be open to assessing his options elsewhere, while the 28-year-old is yet to speak publically
The club's two-time best and fairest winner had his exit interview with the club on Monday, where Petracca is said to have spoken on his desire to join a rival Victorian club ahead of the 2025 season.
According to a report fromย The Age'sย Sam McClure, three club sources and two sources close to Petracca revealed the relationship between Petracca and the Demons is "beyond repair".
While Petracca is unsettled, it is believed a trade request is unlikely given the difficulty a rival club will have to facilitate a trade and satisfy Melbourne.
McClure toldย 3AWย last week that Carlton are the best-placed club and are viewed as the only side Melbourne would be open to discussing a deal with given the Blues are home to two Coleman medallists.
Both Harry McKay and Charlie Cunrow are signed to long-term deals like Petracca and would also need to approve a trade to the Demons, while Carlton too would need to be open to the concept.
"Christian Petracca, right here right now, is still every chance to demanding a trade in the coming days," McClure said on Friday.
"But the dogged Demons' list management team will rebuff almost any advance, barring - I can report to you tonight - a play from Carlton that would involve one of those two generational forwards."
Melbourne have stood firm that Petracca will remain with the club beyond this year and through to the end of his contract with the red and blue.
