Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew has confirmed that the club suspects Lachie Weller has ruptured his ACL.
The 26-year-old was seen grabbing his right knee during the fourth quarter of Gold Coast's 62-point win over North Melbourne after landing awkwardly on his leg and was helped from the ground by trainers.
When asked about the injury post-game, Dew admitted that Weller could be facing a lengthy stint on the sidelines.
"Yeah, that's what the fear is and what it looked like," Dew said.
"We'll find out for sure, but it doesn't look good.
"They never look good when they're in open space and try to change direction.
"We're going to miss him. He's in the form of his career and he's had a real impact on the footy club."
Weller has been a consistent performer for the Suns since making the move from Fremantle in 2018, featuring in all but one game in 2022.
The 127-gamer has averaged 20.5 disposals per game so far this season and was putting on another admirable display on Saturday evening, accumulating 20 touches before being replaced by Jeremy Sharp in the final term.
Meanwhile, North Melbourne had another night to forget, squandering an early lead to be handed their eighth 50+ point loss this season.
Kangaroos coach David Noble admitted that the performance was "frustrating", with North leading by 17 points at quarter-time but unable to stop a barrage of Gold Coast goals in the second term.
"That's the frustrating level. It's there, we know we've got more in us, but we don't deliver," Noble said.
"That's the game. Teams challenge you and you've got to be able to respond."
The Roos also lost Ben McKay due to concussion earlier into the match, with key defender set to miss his side's Round 13 duties.
North will face the Giants in Round 13, eager to avoid an 11th consecutive loss, while Gold Coast will have the week off before hosting Adelaide in Round 14.
