The daughter of Alex Jesaulenko has blasted Kane Cornes after he dubbed the Carlton great's legendary mark in the 1970 Grand Final "overrated".
“(Jesaulenko’s) is an overrated mark,” Cornes said on the Sunday Footy Show.
“Goddard’s mark in the Grand Final is better than Jeusalenko’s mark in a Grand Final. It’s an okay mark. It’s a solid mark, but Jeremy Howe does it every week.”
Kate Jesaulenko rang up SEN on Wednesday to express her displeasure with the commentary from the former Port Adelaide star.
“Annoyed I don’t think is the word,” Jesaulenko told SEN’s Bob and Andy.
“I’m absolutely furious that Kane Cornes would come out and say dad’s mark was overrated – I find it disgusting and disgraceful.
“I cannot believe that he would come out and make such a comment not only of an iconic footballer, but an iconic father and an iconic husband – I am beside myself; I just cannot believe it."
Former Western Bulldogs skipper Bob Murphy defended Cornes, saying his comments may have have been slightly misconstrued.
"I think what he meant was that a lot of people, and I think most people, have your dad's mark as the greatest mark of all time, number one. And in Kane's opinion, he didn't quite have it at those lofty heights," Murphy said.
But Kate Jesaulenko wasn't having it, firing another shot at Cornes.
"I think you're completely incorrect," she responded.
"I don't know where this kid, I don't even know who he is, gets off. Saying that a legend of the game, with such an iconic moment is overrated.
“‘Jesaulenko, you beauty’ is one of the iconic moments in Australian football and for him to come out and try to degrade it.
“I don’t know if he is looking for a contract, I don’t know if his contract is about to run up, I don’t know if he is trying to cause controversy, but I don’t know who Kane Cornes is and who he thinks he is bagging my father and saying that he is overrated – it is disgraceful, it is disgusting, he is bagging a legend of the game.
“I think his comments were absolutely disgraceful and there is no place in football for him to say what he said."
