Fremantle are reportedly set to hand South Fremantle tall Zac Strom a training opportunity ahead of the 2022 season.
Strom has pieced together a stellar career with the Bulldogs across 138 games in the WAFL, having represented the WA state team and claimed best and fairest honours with South Fremantle in their flag-winning campaign two years ago.
The 28-year-old is a strong, athletic key-position utility, having been utilised at either end of the ground as well as on the wing and in the ruck to be rated as one of the most impressive talents at the state league level.
Strom now firms as a chance to gain an opportunity in the AFL, with the Dockers set to add the 198cm tall talent to their pre-season training schedule.
Fremantle are set to have a list spot open up following the shock retirement of midfielder Luke Valente, with Strom firming as the leading chance to join Justin Longmuir's side should he impress under the Dockers coach.
According to AFL.com.au, Strom is likely to begin his training tenure at Cockburn as early as next week.
The versatile tall may not be the only player fighting for a chance in the top flight for Fremantle however, with the Dockers reportedly weighing up training invites for former Geelong player Blake Schlensog and 2021 Sandover medallist Bailey Rogers.
Schlensog and Strom are among several South Fremantle players vying for an AFL list spot, with Tom Blechynden and Toby McQuilken currently training across town at West Coast.
AFL clubs will have until March 9 to sign players through the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period, with leftover list spots able to be used in June's Mid-Season Rookie Draft.
