Tom Boyd is set to return to football on Friday after overcoming a back injury.

Boyd could play in Footscray's clash against Collingwood in the VFL.

Lin Jong and Jason Johannisen could also be in line to return, according to Bulldogs medical services officer Chris Bell.

"They still have to get through training this week, but we have Lin Jong, Jason Johannisen and Tom Boyd all chomping at the bit to play on the weekend,” Bell told the club’s website.

Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge believes Boyd may need some time to come back up to speed.

"He has missed a lot of footy, Tom, he will need to get his match fitness up,” he said after their loss to Gold Coast.

Johannisen injured his ankle in February, while Jong is dealing with a hamstring strain.
