Wednesday's main training session looks set to determine the availability of Western Bulldogs star Adam Treloar, who will need to prove his fitness this week to face Hawthorn in Friday's elimination final.
Treloar has been dealing with a calf issue since reporting a complaint in the Dogs' Round 24 win over GWS, with the club noting their gun ball-winner is no certainty to suit up for the club's first September showing.
The veteran midfielder will need to get through Wednesday's main session unscathed to be cleared to play, with the Dogs hopeful Treloar will be fit and firing come Friday night.
"Adam is progressing as planned following the calf tightness that he experienced in our Round 24 game," Bulldogs sports medicine boss Chris Bell said in a club update.
"We have had a clear plan around him across the last 10 days to freshen him up.
"We will look to confirm his availability for the elimination final following our main training session this Wednesday."
Forward Laitham Vandermeer is in a similar position as he deals with hamstring tightness sustained during the Dogs' last game.
The AFL's pre-finals bye has afforded Vandermeer enough time to remain in consideration for selection this week, with the 25-year-old building his workloads over the weekend in a bid to face the Hawks.
The Bulldogs are hoping to see a full week on the track from Vandermeer before a decision is made on his playing prospects.
"Laith has recovered well from the hamstring tightness that he experienced against GWS," Bell added.
"He was managed in the early part of last week, and fully trained in our match parameters session on Saturday.
"If Laith gets through full training this week like I expect, he will be available for selection."
Forward Rhylee West has been removed from the Dogs' injury list after recovering from a fractured jaw, while veteran Jason Johannisen is set to be available after returning through the VFL for Footscray last week, having dealt with a calf injury in the second half of the season.
The Western Bulldogs will host Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday night at 7:40pm (AEST), with the winner to progress with an away game to either Port Adelaide or Geelong.
