Former Crows coach Don Pyke it set to join the Sydney Swans as an assistant coach.

The 51-year old will begin his new role in Sydney in November after a year out of the game, having coached Adelaide from 2016 to 2019.

It comes after Swans assistant John Blakey departed the club after 14 years to return to North Melbourne.

Sydney Swans GM-Football Charlie Gardiner said Pyke would be a key addition to the Swans in 2021.

โ€œWeโ€™re excited to be able to bring in a coach of Donโ€™s calibre,โ€ Gardiner told the club website.

โ€œHe brings with him a wealth of experience, is strategically minded, and is passionate about developing players to be part of successful teams.

โ€œWe think Don is a great addition to our coaching panel as we look to continue the development of our young team.

โ€œWe look forward to welcoming Don and his wife Jodie to Sydney.โ€
