Melbourne has added to their ruck stocks after securing St Kilda ruckman Tom Campbell via free agency on Friday.
Campbell has largely been used as a back-up ruckman during his time at Moorabbin, playing second fiddle to Rowan Marshall under Ross Lyon.
Before his time at the Saints, the 32-year-old spent time at both the Western Bulldogs (2012-2018) and North Melbourne (2019-2021), playing 58 AFL games.
The Demons opting to acquire Campbell will assist seven-time All-Australian Max Gawn while bridging the gap between young rucks Tom Fullarton and Will Verrall.
Gawn has been toiling away with limited support in the ruck role, playing a minimum of 21 games in each of the past four seasons.
The AFL is yet to confirm draft compensation for St Kilda for the loss of Campbell, if any.
The Demons have bid farewell to retired trio Angus Brayshaw, Ben Brown and Lachie Hunter this year, and delisted Kyah Farris-White and Josh Schache.
Forward Alex Neal-Bullen is set to join Adelaide during the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.
Midfield duo Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver were also flirted with a potential trade, but given their contract status, will likely remain put.
