Sydney defender Aliir Aliir has been traded to Port Adelaide in exchange for a future-second round selection.

The 26-year-old is set to sign a four-year deal with the Power after requesting a trade to the South Australian club.

Aliir played 64 games for the Swans after being taken with the 44th overall selection in the 2013 draft.

โ€œAliir has impressed us during his time with Sydney with his defensive work and his ability to spend time in the ruck,โ€ said Port Adelaide General Manager โ€“ Football, Chris Davies.

โ€œWe see him adding depth to our key defensive stocks and we think he is capable of fitting in with our overall defensive system.

โ€œHis speed, athleticism and intercept marking will certainly add value to our team, and we look forward to welcoming him to the club.โ€

The move is set to pave the way for the Swans to add West Coast ruckman Tom Hickey via trade.
