Carlton has successfully traded for the services of former top-10 pick Elijah Hollands from the Gold Coast Suns.

The Blues had sought after Hollands for some time, seeking to pair him with brother, Ollie, who impressed on a wing in his first season with Carlton.

On the evening of the trade period deadline day, the Blues and Suns came to an agreement to send the 21-year-old to Princes Park.

According to AFL.com.au's Riley Beveridge, Carlton will send Pick 26 and Essendon's future third-round pick in exchange for Hollands, Pick 28 and Gold Coast's future fourth-round selection.

Hollands struggled to break into the senior lineup on the Gold Coast, with Suns list boss Craig Cameron declaring in early October that if Hollands wanted to explore his options, he was more than welcome to do so.

The Suns intend to draft a trio of Academy stars in the upcoming draft, as the club works to gain as much draft capital as possible in order to match rival clubs' contending bids.

As a result, Hollands, along with the likes of now-Crow Chris Burgess and soon-to-be Hawk Mabior Chol, are clearly expendable in the eyes of Gold Coast's list bosses.

From his 14-game career at the Suns, Hollands averaged 14.2 disposals, 3.5 marks, 1.4 clearances and 2.4 tackles. He also kicked eight goals in his three-year stint in the Sunshine State but didn't feature in any games during his first season.

This year's trade deadline is set for 7:30 PM (AEDT).
