Sam Weideman is officially a Bomber, traded to Essendon in the second deal on day eight of the 2022 AFL Trade Period.
Weideman will head to Essendon, along with picks 54 and 72, in exchange for the 37th selection of November's draft after spending seven seasons at Melbourne, playing 59 games and kicking 62 goals across his career.
Essendon secured pick 37 from Sydney less than half an hour prior in a deal that saw former first-round draftee Aaron Francis make his way to the Harbour City.
The 25-year-old managed just ten games in 2022, averaging 8.3 disposals and 1.3 goals per game.
The former top ten draft pick joins Essendon just a week after former Sun Peter Wright won the club's best and fairest award.
Wright, like Weideman, made the move to the Bombers in exchange for a later pick after beginning his career in the Gold Coast forward line, going on to kick 53 goals in 2022.
