Melbourne has traded for Fremantle midfielder Ed Langdon, landing the 23-year-old on Friday.
The Dockers have sent Langdon and picks 26 and a future fourth-round selection to the Dees, with Melbourne trading picks 22, 79 and a future second-round pick back to Fremantle.
Langdon has played 68 games for the Dockers across his five seasons with the club, averaging 21.1 disposals and 5.0 marks per game.
“We have been impressed by Ed’s development particularly over the past two years, where he has really established himself in the competition,” Demons' General Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney told Melbourne Media.
“Ed is a ready-made player who will be a long-term prospect for the Melbourne Football Club, so that’s really exciting for us.
“Our focus during this period has been to bring two targeted players, both with elite endurance, into the club. Ed’s running capacity is in the top echelon of the league and that is evident in games.
“We had nearly 15 players go through the wing position this year, so to be able to have both Adam and Ed join us and play predominately on the wing will give us some good stability in the midfield.”
