West Coast has secured the services of Demons speedster Jayden Hunt on a three-year deal, snaring the Victorian with a free agency swoop.
Having served nine seasons in the red and the blue, the 27-year-old met the triggers to become an unrestricted free agent at the cessation of the 2022 season.
The Eagles lodged the paperwork to officially bring the pacy utility across the Nullarbor on Monday, ending Hunt's tenure with Melbourne after 114 games.
Melbourne will receive Pick 52 as compensation for losing Hunt's services.
Speaking in the wake of lodging paperwork with AFL House, Demons list boss Tim Lamb paid praise to Hunt and thank him for his efforts over nigh-on a decade.
“Jayden has been an excellent contributor to our club over a sustained period,” said Lamb.
“He played an important role for us half-back over the last couple of years and was unlucky to miss out on 2021 premiership having suffered an ankle injury in Round 21 of that year.
“We are rapt for him that he has the opportunity to continue his career at West Coast and we wish him all the best in the next chapter.”
On the flip side of the coin, West Coast's recruiting chief Rohan O'Brien contended the club was wrapt to have landed Hunt to help with their rebuild.
“We're thrilled that Jayden has opted to join our club as a free agent,” O'Brien said.
“We believe he has some attributes that will complement our list and look forward to him joining the boys for the start of pre-season.”
Adept at playing at both ends of the ground, the Sandringham Dragons product will bring line-breaking abilities to Adam Simpson's unit, having averaged 1.8 rebound 50s and 2.7 inside 50s since debuting in 2016.
Though routinely used off half-back by both Paul Roos and Simon Goodwin, Hunt has also spent spells playing forward off the ball, slotting 43 majors across his days as a Demon.
While unable to taste the ultimate success during Melbourne's drought-breaking 2021 flag, Hunt laced the boots on 20 occasions during their premiership season - a figure that was matched throughout his 2022 campaign.
At present, Melbourne is armed with Picks 33, 42, 51, 52 64, 69 and 87 ahead of November's National Draft.
