Geelong have landed a bargain deal with the Gold Coast Suns, who have handed the Cats defender Jack Bowes and Pick 7 at this year's draft in exchange for a future third-round pick.
The deal comes amid a significant list shift for the Suns as they plan their salary situation for the future, with this move seeing the Queensland club part ways with Bowes' reported $850,000-per-year contract.
Bowes was tied to the Suns until the end of the 2024 season, however will now see his services transferred to Kardinia Park while his contract is understood to be spread along four seasons with Geelong.
As part of a deal to lure clubs in taking on Bowes' contract, the Suns have packaged Pick 7 along with the 24-year-old, with Geelong emerging as the lucky suitors after Bowes elected the Cats as his desired landing spot.
The agreed deal sees Geelong's list and draft hand strengthened, with the Cats now holding Picks 7, 25, 58, 64 and 94 for this year's National Draft.
They send a future third-round selection to the Suns through the trade, with Gold Coast's first selection for the 2022 National Draft set at Pick 5 after acquiring the pick from Adelaide in a deal for Izak Rankine this week.
