Adelaide has acquired wantaway GWS midfielder James Peatling via a trade with the Giants, who have secured a future second round pick in return for the young onballer.
GWS have handed over a future third and fourth round pick as part of the Peatling package.
Peatling requested a trade to West Lakes last week after high levels of interest from across the competition as Melbourne, West Coast, Collingwood, St Kilda, and the Western Bulldogs also expressed a desire to lure Peatling out of GWS.
The Giants took negotiations to the final minutes of the trade period, rejecting initial offers from the Crows, but have finally agreed to the deal.
The Giants had also hoped to retain the local midfielder, but the Crows won the race for his signature and have now landed Peatling services via a trade deal.
The Crows have sent their future second rounder to GWS, further adding to the New South Wales club's draft capital after the Giants gained first-round compensation for the departures of free agents Isaac Cumming and Harry Perryman.
The defensive duo have joined Adelaide and Collingwood, respectively, with GWS pocketing Picks 16 and 21 as compensation.
GWS also lost veteran Nick Haynes via a free-agency move to Carlton. However, the Giants did not acquire compensation for his exit.
The arrival of Peatling at Adelaide follows Cumming's return to South Australia and Melbourne premiership player Alex Neal-Bullen's move to the Crows earlier this trade period.
