Richmond have added to their forward line with a move for Hawthorn's Jacob Koschitzke finalised on Wednesday evening, with the Hawks attaining Pick 49 in exchange for the 23-year-old.

Koschitzke had requested a trade to Punt Road this off-season despite the Hawks putting an extension on the table, with opportunities likely greater with the Tigers than what has recently been on offer for the Albury product.

The fringe forward played 12 games under senior coach Sam Mitchell this year but could cement himself as a starting fixture for the Tigers in 2024 following Richmond's loss of Jack Riewoldt to retirement.

The Tigers' interest in Koschitzke comes as new coach Adem Yze looks to build support around first-string forward Tom Lynch, while emerging tall Samson Ryan looks to continue to hone his craft across the front half of the field.

According to AFL.com.au's Riley Beveridge, Richmond have coughed up Pick 49 to the Hawks to secure Koschitzke.

Koschitzke has shown promise at the AFL level over his time in the brown and gold, booting 27 goals from 20 appearances in his maiden season at Waverley - including a five-goal haul against Adelaide that same year.

Also able to play in defence, the new Tigers recruit will be pushing for a bigger role when he pulls on the yellow and black next year.

Richmond aren't expected to make any further moves to bring in fresh faces this trade period, while they've already bid farewell to fringe tall Bigoa Nyuon who landed a move to North Melbourne on Monday.
