Richmond has officially sent best and fairest winner Daniel Rioli - along with Picks 51, 61, 70 and 76 to the Gold Coast Suns, who have sent Picks 6 and 23 the other way.

Rioli requested a trade to join Damien Hardwick at Carrara this off-season while having a deal with the Tigers until the end of the 2027 season.

The move sees Rioli and Hardwick reunite, with Richmond earning a wealthy selection of picks for the departure of their dashing defender.

The addition of selections 6 and 23 sees the Tigers' 2024 draft hand now hold Picks 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 and 24 for November's count.

Rioli's Queensland move adds to the Suns' previous additions of Elliot Himmelberg (Adelaide) and John Noble (Collingwood) already this off-season, while Jack Lukosius (Port Adelaide) and Rory Atkins (Port Adelaide) have left the club.

The Tigers defender, who took out the 2024 Jack Dyer Medal, has played 183 career games since debuting with Richmond in 2016. He started his career as a small forward and played a role in the club's trio of premierships between 2017 and 2020 before moving to defence, amassing an All-Australian squad nod in 2022.

Rioli joins former Tiger teammates Liam Baker (West Coast), Jack Graham (West Coast) and Shai Bolton (Fremantle) in departing the club.
