A trade between Richmond and GWS for Giants star Tim Taranto has landed, with the Tigers giving up a pair of top 20 draft selections for the midfielder.
In a deal that was flagged to fall early into the trade period, Richmond and the AFL confirmed on Monday afternoon that Taranto is officially a Tiger, signing what has been a reported seven-year deal to make the switch to Punt Road.
With the highly-rated onballer joining Richmond, the Tigers have been required to pay a premium price, parting with Picks 12 and 19 for the 24-year-old.
The pair of selections will see GWS strengthen their draft hand substantially, with the New South Wales side now holding Picks 3, 12, 19 and 21 in the opening two rounds of this year's National Draft.
Business between the Tigers and Giants won't stop there either, with Richmond set to acquire Jacob Hopper from GWS in another deal that will see the Victorian powerhouse club fork up further early draft picks.
After parting ways with their two selections to secure Taranto, Richmond hold selections 31 and 85 for this year's draft, along with their future selections - which are sure to come into the Hopper negotiations.
