The expected time trial winners took out the 2024 titles at GWS and Melbourne, but it was a Western Bulldogs draftee who turned heads at Whitten Oval this week.

Pick 62 selection Luke Kennedy claimed the Dogs' time trial on Monday, finishing ahead of captain Marcus Bontempelli and forward Cody Weightman to impress on the track.

Kennedy, a midfielder out of the Sandringham Dragons, was known for his endurance in the lead-up to last month's draft and put his aerobic capacity on full display to start his second week with the club.

Bontempelli will be hoping to somehow improve on his stellar 2024 season when he leads the Dogs for the sixth straight season as skipper.

At the Demons, 2km time trial Draft Combine record holder Harry Sharp again blitzed past his new teammates at Gosch's paddock to take out the running award for Melbourne.

The Lion-turned-Demon's time of 5:28mins from the 2020 combine remains unbeaten, while Sharp previously claimed time trial titles with Brisbane, who he left this off-season in favour of a move back to Victoria.

Sharp finished first in Melbourne's 2km time trial ahead of second-year midfielder Kynan Brown, while veteran Tom McDonald rounded out the podium.

Forward Kade Chandler finished in fourth, with midfielder Tom Sparrow coming one spot back.

GWS held their 2km time trial on Monday too, with speedster Toby Bedford coming in first and adding to his previous spot atop the playing group.

Bedford finished ahead of young wingman Ryan Angwin, with Xavier O'Halloran, Finn Callaghan and Lachie Whitfield also landing in the top five.
