Delisted Kangaroo Aiden Bonar is set to be offered every chance to earn an AFL lifeline, with the defender to train with Gold Coast over the summer.
Originally drafted by the Giants with the 11th pick of the 2017 AFL Draft, Bonar spent two seasons in Sydney's West before the Victorian returned home to spend four seasons at Arden Street.
Yet, after 34 games, the 24-year-old had pause hit on his senior career, with the Alastair Clarkson-led Roos cutting ties with the Frankston native at the cessation of the 2023 season.
But, as reported by Callum Twomey of AFL Media, the Dandenong Stingrays product is set to put his best foot forward under the watch of new Suns boss Damien Hardwick, earning the right to train at Carrara ahead of the pre-season supplemental selection period.
The ex-Giant and Roo won't be alone in being afforded another shot at a contract, with one-time Saint and son of Olympic sprinters Jack Peris also making the shift north to keep his dream alive.
Bonar is also set to keep every option open, nominating for both the National and Rookie Drafts set to take place later this month.
The 2023 AFL Draft will run between Monday, November 20 and Tuesday, November 21, with the Rookie and Pre-Season Drafts to be commenced and completed on the Wednesday.
