Gary Ablett Jr, Gary Ablett Sr, Leigh Matthews, Wayne Carey.... Dustin Martin?
Melbourne AFLW skipper Daisy Pearce has declared that the Richmond superstar is the game's best ever player.
Speaking on SENโs Bob and Andy,ย Pearce believes Martin's dominance in the modern era puts him on a pedestal.
โI started thinking about the argument of who is the best player ever to have played the game,โ Pearce said.
โI think Dustin Martin is the best player to have ever played the game.
โ224 games, going at more than a goal a game from the midfield within all those defensive structures โฆ he is right up there.โ
Martin boasts one of the most decorated resumes in football, with two Premierships, two Norm Smith Medals, a Brownlow Medal, two best and fairests and three All-Australian to his name.
The gun Victorian was crowned best on ground in last week's State of Origin bushfire relief clash after tallying 23 disposals and booting three goals.
SEN host Andy Maher said if Martin continues on his current trajectory he deserves to be in the discussion of the game's best ever.
โHeโs 28, if he keeps going at the same rate that he has been going for the last seven or eight years for the next four or five, there might be a chorus joining your (Pearce's) thought here,โ Maher said.
โHeโs done just about everything there is to do in the game. And on a lot of fronts he has done it more than once."
