Gold Coast coach Rodney Eade says Gary Ablett is not going anywhere.
Speculation has mounted over the past month that Ablett wants to finish his career back at Geelong, with a move at the end of next season on the cards.
However, Eade has rubbished the claims and has a stern warning for any club trying to poach the two-time Brownlow Medalist.
“I say good luck. He’ll be here, there’s no doubt about that,” Eade told SEN radio on Friday.
“If Geelong are angling for it, he’s on a fair bit of money. To get him in and pay that money for one or two years is going to be a big deal.
“For us, we need him here and we want him here. He’s now seen as part of the furniture and to think of us going forward, to be successful he’s going to be a part of that.”
Ablett joined the Suns at the end of 2010, after 192 games and two-premierships with Geelong.
The 32-year-old has played 96 games with the Suns and kicked 116 goals. In his time on the Gold Coast, he has won a Brownlow medal, three club best and fairests, four All-Australian Guernseys and two AFLPA MVP awards.
