Fresh from a 51-point thumping from Hawthorn, West Coast has suffered a blow ahead of the Western derby, with defender Jackson Nelson set to miss a month of footy with a broken wrist.

"Jackson Nelson suffered a fracture to his wrist in the course of the game, (he) played it out really well," football manager Craig Vozzo told the club's website.

"But it’s pulled up sore so he’ll be out for about a four-week period."

Jamie Cripps will also join him on the sidelines for two months with an ankle injury, after spraining his ankle in the final few minutes of the match on Sunday afternoon.

"Unfortunately it’s a fairly high-degree injury with that ankle and he’s likely to miss a period of about eight weeks," Vozzo said.

Meanwhile, Andrew Gaff (ankle) and Brad Sheppard (knee) are expected to be fit to face Fremantle on Saturday night.

But Sam Mitchell (ankle) still remains in doubt to play in his first ever Western derby.
