The West Coast Eagles have announced their tactical substitute for Sunday evening's contest against Richmond, naming veteran wingman Andrew Gaff in the role.
The Eagles have made the tactical call two days in advance of Sunday evening's bout.
Senior coach Adam Simpson revealed West Coast's match committee decision to designate Gaff the substitute during Friday morning's press conference.
"'Gaffy' will be the sub this week," Simpson stated on Friday.
The 13-year Eagles stalwart has been a topic of conversation in recent days, following a report linking Gaff to a potential trade away from West Coast at year's end.
The 31-year-old, once recognised as a premier engine-room player, has fallen from grace as his career has progressed.
While a contracted West Coast player until the end of next season, the idea of a trade has been floated and Gaff is reportedly not against the prospect, particularly as the Eagles begin to shift towards their next generation of youthful talent.
West Coast's matchup with Richmond is fixtured for 4:40 PM (AEST) this Sunday.
