West Coast coach Andrew McQualter has denied any indication from Harley Reid's camp that the young Eagles sensation might seek a trade at the end of the current season.
While under contract until the end of 2026, Reid's name has been tied to a return to Victoria as clubs from his home state continue to express an interest in the former No.1 pick.
The Eagles have increased their bid to retain the Tongala product, with a trio of contract options said to be on the table for the teenager to consider.
Quizzed on Reid's future, McQualter said the club is "clearly" trying to secure Reid to a long-term deal while denying any suggestion Reid may look to leave the club a year prior to the end of his contract.
"We've got a list management team run by Matty Clarke, I'm a part of that process," McQualter said of the young star's situation.
"We clearly want Harley to stay and be a long-term player for our footy club. He's contracted for next year, we haven't heard anything to indicate (he's a chance to seek a trade this year), so we're confident Harley will (be an Eagle in 2026).
"He's invested in our footy club. He's coming to work every day, training to improve. So we've just got to keep creating the right environment and encouraging Harley with the right behaviors. That's all our job is."
Reid, who is anticipated to become one of the top-paid player's in the competition once he signs his next deal, returned to form in Round 4 despite the heavy loss to GWS.
A move to half-back saw Reid have a larger impact on the game compared to his first three matches of the season, with the versatile young gun amassing 25 disposals, six inside 50s and three rebound 50s in a defensive-midfield rotation.
McQualter confirmed Reid will again suit up in defence on Saturday when the Eagles face Carlton at Adelaide Oval, with West Coast to weigh up their wunderkind's evolution and fit in their system.
"It was spoken about for a long period of time," McQualter said of moving Reid's magnet for Round 4.
"He's played half-back previously, he played there as a junior as well, so think we saw some signs last week that were much better for Harley and we're excited for where that can take him.
"We're going to be in this space where we're going to explore a bit. This week he'll play half-back again, but even last week we put him through the midfield at different times.
"As we evolve, that'll evolve as well."
West Coast and Carlton are both chasing their first wins of the 2025 season, with the two sides to clash in South Australia for Gather Round on Saturday at 1:20pm (AEST).
