Beloved footy icon Eddie Betts has made a stellar return in the Top End, slotting three goals in the Palmerston Magpies opening round win over the Tiwi Bombers on Saturday.
The 35-year-old hit the scoreboard either side of half-time during the Magpies' 10-goal rout of the Bombers at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
Betts initially signed on with the Northern Territorian side last season, dazzling crowds with his showmanship, nous and million-dollar smile.
Betts had previously turned out for Murray Football League outfit Rumbalara and Branxholme Wallacedale during the Victorian winter.
The former Crow and Blue was joined on the scoresheet by ex-Roo and Demon Cam Pederson, who also posted three for the Pies.
Betts' dash and offensive output were made all the more influential given his role within Geelong's grand final steamrolling of the Swans a week earlier at the MCG.
Since making his way to the Cattery ahead of the 2022 season, Betts' presence and influence in aiding Tyson Stengle's sublime AFL return have been lauded, with the youngster earning both premiership and All-Australian honours just a year after plying his trade in the SANFL.
Betts and the Magpies will face league newcomers PINT next Saturday at the same venue.
