Eight AFL footballing identities agree to Gather Round boxing bouts

A series of footballing identities are set to enter the boxing ring ahead of Gather Round.

Eight former AFL footballers are set to trade studded boots for boxing gloves, with the octet agreeing to enter the square circle for a pre-Gather Round boxing card in Adelaide.

As first reported by Nine News' Tom Morris, names including Dane Swan, Nathan Brown and the ever-polarising Kane Cornes are set to duke it out on April 3 at the Adelaide 36ers Arena - the day before the second annual Gather Round commences at the Adelaide Oval.

The full four-fight card, filled with fights between former teammates and advisaries, reads as follows:

Kane Cornes v Nathan Brown
Dane Swan v Dale Thomas
Anthony Rocca v Corey McKernan
Mitch Robinson v Kayne Pettifer

Of this group of prospective pugilists, only Pettifer has any real experience in the ring, with the former Tiger holding a 3-0 record, with a single victory by knockout.

While the broadcast platform is yet to be decided, each fight will run for four rounds, with each round to run for two minutes.

The is set to be presented by SLB Fight Night and Pelligra Group and is not an AFL or Gather Round affiliated event.
