McCartin started as a key forward for the Swans due to his height and marking ability, however has recently become a pivotal key defender for Sydney.
Charlie Gardiner, Swans Executive General Manager, praised McCartin, stating: "Tom has grown enormously both on and off the field since arriving at the Club as the youngest player selected in his draft class.”
“He has shown great promise at both ends of the ground, but certainly this season, he has become a key part of our defence, and has been regularly taking on the competitions best key forwards," Gardiner said, per the club website.
Amartey has impressed with his incredible athleticism as a key forward, and made his AFL debut for the Swans in Round 17 against the Lions last year.
The 21-year-old has since found his place back in John Longmire's side, playing the last six matches of the Swans' season so far.
“Over the last six weeks we have seen just how promising Joel can be in our forward half,” Gardiner said.
“He has worked hard on his physical development and we are really excited about where he can take his game with the Swans over the next two years."
Midfielder Mark Sheather is yet to make his senior AFL debut, however has been offered a contract extension as result of his strong form in the VFL .
Gardiner said he has "been impressed" with Sheather and believes "he has a bright future in red and white.”
“All credit goes to Marc, who has worked incredibly hard since joining our list as a rookie this year,” he said.
