Untried GWS utility Wade Derksen has reportedly come across the desk of rival club recruiters as a backline option in the upcoming trade period.
Derksen has toiled away in the VFL since being taken with Pick 5 in the 2022 Mid-Season Draft, catching the eye of list managers for his consistent performances.
At only 23 years of age, the Giant has proven that he can play at either end and is being watched by the WA clubs and suitors in Victoria as well, according to Herald Sun's Josh Barnes.
โWade Derksen's probably not on the lips of many footy fans, but he is on the lips of recruiters and he's going to be in the trade market,โ Barnes revealed on Fox Footy's Midweek Tackle.
โHe has multiple suitors in Victoria, WA clubs are after him as well. He's playing at GWS in the VFL this year, he's played defence all year โ he also thinks he's a forward, kicked six goals (in three games) late in the year for GWS!
โMelbourne Demons are one club that are after him, he's about to have twins this week so he's after a bit more family support โ he has that both in WA and Victoria, but Victoria's probably his preference (as) he has a bit more family support there."
Derksen has played 44 reserve games for the Giants, proving he can be an asset at both ends.
However, rivals will be keen to swoop in given he's fallen behind in the queue to the likes of Sam Taylor and Jack Buckley at one end, and Jesse Hogan, Jake Riccardi and Aaron Cadman at the other.
The Demons are in desperate need of a player who can fill a void in a key position, particularly in the back half.
