Scans gave confirmed Essendon youngster Irving Mosquito has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament after injuring his leg in Sunday's clash with Geelong, per essendondfc.com.au

The 20-year-old was assisted from the field after twisting his knee in the third term of the Bombers' 108-42 loss to the Cats.

Dan Richardson, general manger of on football for Essendon, said Mosquito has all the support from the club.

โ€œIrving made an impressive debut during our Dreamtime game against Richmond and held his spot in the senior side for the past month.

โ€œIrving will require surgery and the club will fully support him during what will likely be a traditional 12-month rehabilitation process.โ€
