With flooding alerts at an all time high, Victoria has taken a battering with emergency evacuations listed for a number of country towns and metro areas after severe storm warnings were issued.

Good samaritans and Essendon duo Peter Wright and Will Snelling were pictured providing a helping hand at the local sandbagging site with Essendon SES on hand to capture the moment the Bombers pair played their part in giving back to the community.

The off-season period allows time for players to find time to relax and work on themselves but with the selfless nature of the pair shown above, it speaks to their team-first attitude to provide assistance where necessary.

Ongoing floods have put pain to so many with rural areas affected greatly by the freak weather event, making acts of kindness like these more meaningful in their small but significant gesture.

Snelling endured a tough run in season 2022, stringing a number of games at the backend together at the top level before being shut down with a hamstring injury ruling him out for the year.

Sharp-shooter Wright on the other hand satisfied fans with a 53-goal output for the year to secure the Crichton Medal as a reward for his efforts throughout the season as Essendon's best and fairest winner.
