Former AFL teammates and Essendon Bombers greats Dyson Heppell and David Zaharakis will headline a special that will take place in Cairns at the beginning of next year.

The former teammates will be featured in a special event at Cazalys Cairns in Westcourt, Queensland, titled the “Dyson Heppell Retirement Live Show".

The event, which will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, will offer fans an in-depth look at Heppell's distinguished career in the AFL alongside insights from Zaharakis.

It will also feature exclusive stories from the duo, a memorabilia auction and the chance for fans to meet the players.

Retiring at the end of the 2024 AFL season, Heppell has been regarded as one of the best Bombers players of the 21st Century.

Captaining the side between 2017-22, he played over 250 matches for the club, earned All-Australian honours and won the club's best and fairest (Crichton Medal) in 2014.

On the other hand, Zaharakis featured in 226 matches for the Bombers between 2009 and 2021 before hanging up his boots and was an U18s All-Australian and won the Anzac Day Medal in 2013 against Collingwood after a heroic performance.
